Dear all, Hola! This is your secretary here. This post shall be a rather lengthy one so brace your self. Do pee/crap if you must before proceeding. All right, this is a summary of what I’ll be covering in this post: • Temporary Hiatus of NP Sailing • Attendance issues • Statement of Intent for potential Year One sailors • P’s & Q’s and other reminders • Upcoming sailing camp TEMPORARY HIATUS OF NP SAILING As you would all know, the exams are just round the corner. Hence, NP Sailing will be taking a break from both physical and water training with effect from August 2008. Trainings will resume in September and we will notify everyone when we do so. In the mean time, pop by and check npyachter a.k.a our blog regularly. ATTENDANCE ISSUES With regards to the issue of attendance, this concerns all Year Ones, Year Twos and Year Threes. As we’ve constantly been reiterating throughout the semester, if you are unable to turn up for trainings, you have an obligation to inform Xin Jian, Crystal or me. It’s only courteous of you to do so. Committee members and seniors are no exception to the rule. We are not your resident mind readers or clairvoyants. We will determine the validity of your reason/excuse but it is solely up to our discretion. Bear in mind that an excuse like “Oh I told so-and-so to tell you” is NOT accepted. An sms costs less than $0.10 while e-mail is absolutely free. I shall not list down names but for those who have not been attending regular physical, you know who you are and I hope you have the sense to know that your position in NP Sailing has been jeopardized by your poor attendance (especially if you don’t have valid reasons to back your absences). We are all mature and responsible individuals so let’s all behave like one shall we? Co-operation is vital to keep any club running so let’s work together as one please! STATEMENT OF INTENT FOR POTENTIAL YEAR ONE SAILORS Dearest Year Ones: The time has come and the selection process (which has secretly been underway since Day One i.e. the moment you pledged allegiance to NP Sailing) will officially commence with effect from Wednesday, 30 August 2008. All right, we’re just kidding about the allegiance pledging part but the part about the selection process is most definitely true. We’ve informed you earlier in the semester that only 12 (or even a far less number of you) will be chosen in the end. In order to be eligible for consideration, do note that factors listed below are examples of prerequisites: • Regular attendance for physical trainings • A positive attitude before, during and after trainings • Overall performance during BSC and other NP sailing activities • Ability to establish rapport with seniors or fellow sailors So if you think you’ve fulfilled the above criteria, give yourself a pat on the back. Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there. Yep, that’s not all, folks! ALL INTERESTED Year Ones are to submit a Statement of Intent to Xin Jian, our current president for NP Sailing. In your Statement of Intent, please list down: • Your Name • Your Birthdate • Your Handphone Number • Your E-mail Address • Your Student Number • Completion of BSC: (Yes/No) • Other CCAs you’re currently involved in • A short description about yourself • Why should we choose you to be in NP Sailing • What do you hope to achieve in NP Sailing • Whether you’re interested in any committee position in NP Sailing We’re not expecting a 1000 word essay but when you type your Statement of Intent, it would be nice if you had a proper format with decent sentence structures and minimal spelling errors. Also, if you think typing one or two sentences is going to get you in, I highly suggest you rethink that. ☺ The deadline for submission of all Statements of Intent is on 15 August 2008. E-mail them to halfstereo_@hotmail.com (addressed to Xin Jian). No statements of intent = Zero consideration for NP Sailing. ON A LAST NOTE We (the current Gen Y-ers) practically grew up with Internet and technology, no? Hence, it is your responsibility as young adults to check the blog regularly and update your selves on what’s going on. If you’re still unclear about anything, always ask. It’s better to clear your confusion via a reliable source (either through Xin Jian, Crystal or me) than to say “I don’t know” and don’t do anything about it. Last, but definitely not the least, please keep the tagboard clean! There’s a fine line between being funny and being outrightly rude. DO NOT flame/spam other people or instigate bad feelings among others. Be sensible, thanks. UPCOMING SAILING CAMP Yes, it’s finally happening! Pop the bubbly! *throws confetti* For now, details are scant. What we can tell you is this: What: NP Sailing Bonding Camp! ☺ When: 28th, 29th and 30th August 2008 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) Venue: School Why should I join: Well, there MAY be a possibility of having a 1-day experience to have a feel of sailing training! Details are still sketchy. Besides that, you’ll be having a whale of a good time getting to know your fellow NP Sailing mates! In order to speed up preparations, I need every single NP sailor to confirm with me your attendance by NEXT WEDNESDAY, 6 AUGUST 2008. I do NOT want to resort to have to hound you for your answer. You’d better e-mail me your response at sheereen.teo@gmail.com I want answers from EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU by the stipulated date. Everyone, please co-operate, thank you. ☺ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whoohoo! You survived my ultra long post! Please do read Joel's most recent post regarding payment fees for all sailors if you haven't done so. It's just below this post! Sailed at 10:00 PM | PERMALINK |
