Ok, I really need to address this issue.. today only 4 people came for training.. this is utterly disappointing.. i know it is optional.. but just 4? of our 20+ strong team? I can understand if you are on attachment or have something important to do.. i really do.. but I am very sure that of the 16 people who did not turn up.. not all have something important on.. I have already told everyone in advance that we have trainings on Wednesdays.. it shouldn’t be a problem to set aside some time for your team.. and it is the holidays man.. everyone has time.. i don’t see how difficult it can be.. it would be sad if we only turn up for trainings only because we have school.. And I believe that I did say that the committee had a very important announcement to make.. I guess no one was bothered to know what it was.. because the 4 people who came were from the committee.. don’t you care at all? The only time that we can meet up is during trainings.. and it is important that we meet up.. Sailing is an individual sport.. your the only one on the boat.. how else can we built up our team sprit and bond at all? Guys, we make the team.. we are the team.. everyone has a part to play.. how would this reflect on us? when freshies come in.. and they see what is happening.. im sure they would start thinking alike.. do we want that? The main issue is not today's training.. but that of everyone's commitment.. This is a CCA.. there is a commitment when you join.. its the very basic thing you have to do.. if you don’t turn up or participate in anyway.. i don’t see how you can be in the team.. its very simple.. you join so you have to commit.. Also, i need to stress the importance of physical trainings.. If you dont already know.. sailing can be a physically demanding sport.. you need strength to sheet in and hike out.. especially in a strong windy condition.. Its no joke.. to be honest, when i first encountered such strong winds.. i wanted to die.. not only that.. you need to have strength to pull your own boat and carry your mast etc.. what kind of sailor are you if you aren't able to do that? SAFYC can only accommodate about 10+ sailors every Saturday.. our team is too big already.. and freshies are coming in soon.. water trainings are going to be a problem.. The committee is trying to arrange something out.. 2 sessions at SAFYC.. and if we are able to do that.. we would be making a commitment on behalf of the team.. and if the team is not committed like now.. how are we going to answer to SAFYC?? tell them "oh the sailors don’t feel like sailing today"? Guys please put in the very basic effort.. I am making WEDNESDAY TRAININGS COMPULSORY NOW !!! i expect everyone who can turn up to turn up.. we need to do something about this.. this cannot go on yeh? On another note.. please please please check the blog regularly.. we can’t always be SMSing everyone and pestering people.. you guys shouldn’t be spoon fed information all the time.. we are not your slaves.. In fact the committee has agreed that we would not be updating any one through SMSing or MSN or whatever unless it an urgent matter.. it would now be your responsibility to update yourself.. it is not a very difficult thing that we are asking.. so you should trust that the blog would be very lively from now..
