Starting 26th January 2011, those going for land training are to be at the snack bar area by 5.20pm. Training will start promptly at 5.45pm. Changing clothes and putting bags in the bin will be done before 5.45pm.

BONDING CAMP CUM AGM LIKE A FINALLY

Hey sailors!

Finally we can have our bonding camp cum AGM! Details are stated below, but before that, I need some cooperation from everyone!

Hey Sailors!

It's been awhile since i typed anything here so here's a quick update from wednesday's debrief.

Changes in Training Schedule for November
There will be no more water trainings at SAFYC
BUT..
We will have self training for 13th and 20th of Nov at Pasir Ris water venture.
Time: Meet at Pasir Ris MRT at 11am (please notify any of the seniors if you're coming)
If those that didnt attend SAFYC's training this month and wish to join us, you may do so! This is self training so it's a pay when you come basis.

As for physical trainings, there will be no physical trainings next wednesday due to Hari Raya Haji. Physical trainings will resume the following wed, 24/11/10.

Race Clinic *Urgent*
This race clinic is for you to learn racing techniques and essential skills to complete a race course. It will be held at Pasir Ris Water Venture. The date has been set to 17th Nov 2010 which is a public holiday and we have no land training on that day. The cost is $40. Places are limited so please register your interest and make payment via bank transfer or any other methods before this Sunday.

Starhub 34th Singapore Laser Open
Alright this is the next competition we'll be joining.
Date: 3-5th Dec 2010
Location: SAFYC
Cost: Fully Subsidized (approx $200+ based on last year)

I would be choosing who gets to represent the school. Please do no be dismayed if you are not chosen. Bascially i'll be looking out for potentials during the upcoming Race Clinic on 17th Nov 2010. As for juniors, you most likely not be joining this competition as your skill level is just not there yet. This is a sport that requires hard dedication and practice to be able to compete. If you just want to sail leisurely, i'm sorry but this is not for you. How to improve? Don't skip training and just practice.

Windsurfing Introduction Course *Urgent*
This is a 1 day course organized by the Windsurfing Association of Singapore.
It is held at the National Sailing Centre in East Coast Park.
Date has been confirmed to be this Sunday, 14th Nov 2010.
It would be a 3-4 hours course comprising of theory and practical and the cost is $10
At the end of the day, it's just an introductory course for you to try out windsurfing. Interested parties please let me know latest by tonight!

Annual Sailing Camp
Hey guys! Camp date is set to be 26-28th Nov 2010. Everything should be confirmed for now except for booking of The Loft@94 which is where we'll be staying! We'll probaly need the coorperation of you guys in regards to filling some forms. Please work with the camp commitee members and dont make life difficult for them! So for now, keep these dates free and please, please co-operate with the camp commitee members.

Money Matters
This a reminder. People who owes money to the treasuer please make payment promptly so that we can process the claims asap as well.

Secondly, for juniors that attended BSC this year, I was told by the club that some of you are holding on to the receipts. Those who have the receipts please contact me asap and pass me the receipts so that we can process the BSC claims for you guys as well.

Hey sailors!

Now that all of you have gone through and passed your BSC, its fine time for water trainings! So do come down for water trainings this November! Do take note that on 20th Nov 2010, training will not be held in Changi SAFYC but at WV Pasir Ris Mre details on that will come as the date comes closer (:

Also, to those who are interested in participating in the StarHub Regatta from 3-5th Dec 2010, please tell me if you have not yet indicated your interest (: Do remember that you will need to go for Nov's training or you will not be prepared for the race!

On 17th Nov 2010, there will be a race clinic, so keep yourself free! The race clinic will tell you all the various rules that you MUST know before a race (StarHub Regatta!). More details on the race clinic will be given as the date comes closer.

2. Basic Sailing Course

The BSC is a 3day course. You must go for ALL 3 days or you will not be able to get your license. The tentative dates are as follows:

Group 1- 22, 24, 25 Jun 2010

Group 2- 27 Jun, 3, 4 July 2010

Only 4 slots are available per group.

Hello people!

As announced, there will be no more land training till after the holidays. Land training will resume as per normal on 30 June 2010. As for water training, there will be no water training for the month of June. Water training will resume starting the second Saturday of July, 10 July 2010.

Do keep 2-4 July (Fri-Sun) free. We will be having our annual Bonding Camp!

As for the Basic Sailing Course (BSC), we are still trying to liaise with the club. The BSC may have to be held on the weekdays of our June holidays, but that is not confirmed yet. Will get back to you guys, so worry not!

The health declaration form has been emailed to all of you. Do print it out, fill it up and bring it next land training on 26th May 2010, Wednesday, if you have not yet done so.

For the juniors, it will be an indication of whether you are committed in joining NP Sailing, and whether you are interested in taking the Basic Sailing Course (regardless of whether you will be able to make it in June or not).

Also, do take note that the Basic Sailing Course in June will most probably be conducted on 3 days out of the two Saturdays and two Sundays we have during the June holidays. So be sure to keep yourself free!

Hello all Juniors and Seniors,

Here are some things to take note of:

1. Land training will still be carried out even if it is raining.

2. Participation points per semester will only be given if you

a) attend at least 80% of land trainings in one semester, and

b) attend at least 2 months of water trainings per semester

3. $100 is to be paid to Ka Yee (the club's Treasurer) before every training month. Subsidies will only be given if you attend at least 2 months of water trainings per semester.

4. Sharing/replacements for water trainings are not allowed. If you attend for one water training, you will have to pay the full month's cost of $100.

For those who will be attending water training this week, do notify me through email. My email is yap_jessie@hotmail.com

Juniors who have gone through water orientation need not come for water training this Saturday. For Juniors who have not gone through water orientation, not to worry, either Khai Kit (the club's President) or I will call you with regard to which date you can come down for water orientation.

Alright guys, this is a whole club thing so i'll need the whole club to help out in the preparations and in contributing ideas that will help publicize the club. A lot of people in school have no idea that sailing club existed and i honestly hope that would not happen this year! So, i sincerely seek your cooperation in this.

I have three high priority tasks right now.

We need a change in the layout of the Sailing Blog as it is really outdated. People who can design, ask for the user id & pw and work your magic.
We need a banner for the blue board given to us. Again, i need designers!
We need a decent design for a flyer that will help publicize the club. Then again, i need designers!

I need an idea of everything before we can go set up the booth next sunday so we only have about a week. (We can probably arrange a time to meet up and discuss. All of us.) So, voice out your thoughts! If you have designer friends that can help. We would greatly appreciate his/her help too! Let's all make this happen so that we'll have an awesome start for the year alright?!

Alright this is a competition that Joshua and i decided to join on our own accord. The school would not be sponsoring/subsidizing us in this competition. It would be a good to join as many competitions as you can to build up experience and of course, learn. The registration fee would cost a little more if you guys dont submit by 21st March 2010. I will lias with the SAFYC manager to work out the total cost. But estimated cost would be around $100

In this post i will announce the new 2010 Sailing Committee. First of all, i would like to apologise for the late announcement as we had some issues going on with selection. The new committee will only take full control over the club when school starts the April Semester. Thus, this would be a probational period for the new committee, me and the current comm will evaluate and decide if the particular person is suitable for the post or not. In the event where we feel that the person is unable or does not have the capacity to fulfil the position, we will not hesitate to relief the person of his/her post.

We hope that those who has been appointed would accept the responsibility given to them. Wednesday land training is temporary stopped until further notice! In addition to that, sea training has stopped too! This is due to the upcoming exams that we all have to mug really hard for and get the f***ing GPA 4. HAHA!!!

The groupings are out for the runner's relay on the 24th of july. These groups are final and cannot be changed...The names in RED are the CAPTIAN of the team so captians dont get a shock if someone emails u about the race or something like that. The event features a 7 legs run around the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Campus. The first runner will run a distance of 1.5km while the rest of the 6 runners will cover a distance of 1.2km. Rules & Regulations for Water Training

*Policy of SAFYC - At least 10 people must turn up for water trainings. Meaning if 5 people come for water training, they WILL CHARGE us the cost of 10 people. (Money Issue here)

PLEASE DO NOT SKIP WATER TRAININGS UNNCESSARILY. Attendance for water trainings has been extremely bad for this year except January which is quite okay.
Also, we will be joining the Starhub Laser Open this year in December. Coach is very dissapointed with the attendance and he hopes to form a team of regulars (REGARDLESS OF SKILL & ALWAYS COME FOR TRAININGS) to train. Best is all of you come!

Rules

Confirm with Sean/Markus/Khai Kit if you are coming for the month's water training BEFORE the first session.
By confirming you are expected to pay for the month's training fees.
Transportation wise to be confirmed. (Waiting for SAFYC to reply Sean) We are thinking of cabbing there in 4's as it will be more convenient and cheaper.

I will speak with the advisor again regarding the attendance issues. As she just took over, i'm sure she has different expectations for the attendance. But otherwise, you are expected to follow these rules as for now.

We will first meet at Pasir Ris MRT and go as a group. But just in case we leave without you, take down the following:
To get there…go to Pasir Ris Bus interchange and take bus 403. It will through some housing areas and then turn into pasir ris park. You can't miss it, there will be like playgrounds and stuff in there. The bus will go round the roundabout (circus) and once it does, that press the bell! And then alight. Now for the 11 of you who are going for the BSC, please take note of the following:

1) You would need to sign 2 forms which is the Water Venture membership form and the BSC form, you would need the signature of your parents so please print out these 2 forms (which I already e-mailed all of you) and let your parents sign. If there is anything you are unsure of what to fill in, you can always check with us when you are passing us the form. The important thing is to have your parent’s signature.

2) Please prepare $268 (exact amount) to pass to our treasurers together with the 2 forms.

I have GOOD and BAD news.

Good news is we managed to fight for a whopping 50% subsidy for your BSC!!
BUT there are terms and conditions to it.

You have to PASS your BSC at the very first attempt.
Since the school is paying half the price for your lifetime license, they expect you to commit to the club! (shall elaborate on next update)

Next piece of GOOD news is we have managed to book TheLoft@94 for our annual Sailing camp!! yes its theeeeeeeeee loft! It's an awesome place in school don't worry. Check it out @ http://www.np.edu.sg/sdar/loft/Pages/default.aspx. So look forward to 17th July - 19th July! (:

Okay now for the BAD news..

Hi guys, here is your treasurer speaking. This post is intended for the seniors.

It will be a longggggggggg post, therefore, please be prepared.

1) April 2009 Sailing Fee
Do take note that April 09 Sailing Fees are as follows:
2 Training on 18 & 25 April - $26
Transportation for 1 time only - $15(Spilt cost)

If I am not wrong, there are 4 people went for training, therefore each of you pay $4 for April transportation. So each of you please pay $30 by Friday 22 May 2009.

2) Transportation Fee
As the club agreed, from May onwards, all eligible sailor (Year 2 and 3 with BSC) will spilt the transportation fee. As of May 2009, 11 sailors are eligible for the transportation fee. May transportation fee is $60 (excludes GST, subject to changes), so each eligible sailor will have to pay $6 by 22 May 2009 regardless your May attendance.

3) May 2009 Sailing Fee
There are 4 trainings in the month of May. Each of the sailor who had sailed on May, please pay $52 by 22 May 2009.

4) June 2009 Sailing Fee
To smoothen the payment process and prevent late payment, the treasurer would like to request everyone to prepay the training fee from now on. For June, there will be 4 training; training fee would be $52. Please confirm your June training and make the payment by 3 June 2009.

5) Oct 2008 Claims
Oct 2008 claims are not with me. I will check with the person in charge and get back to your ASAP.

6) Nov 2008 & Jan 2009 Claims
Sorry for the delay. Due to some administrative delay, I was not able to release the claim to your. However, I have confirm with some of your and release the claims by end of this week. Claims amount as follows:

November 2008* - $18/person
January 2009 - $24/ person

* - 2 sailors who had sailed on November will not be able to get their claims due to some school policy. Therefore, I would need to check who is eligible for November claims before I release them. I will release January claims first. November claims will be hold till Saturday, 23 May 2009 when I got the official attendance from SAF.

On another note, this treasurer a bit lazy to bring few hundreds dollar around the school and a bit high tech. :P He will transfer the claims through internet banking. Please refer to note 7 for more information.

7) Claims payment by i-bank
For lots and lots of reasons, claims will transfer to your through internet banking. For this reason, I would need everyone’s banking details. I personally created a form with all the details I need. Please come for Wednesday training (with your bank account number ready) and fill the form. From now on, claims payment will be made by internet banking.

8) Receipt
If your have forgotten, whenever you make a payment, a receipt will be issued to you. The purpose of doing this is to keep a proper accounting record for our club. There are some receipts still with me. Kindly collect from me on the next training.

Please please please tell me if something crops up and you can't come for the allocated timeslot* as i need to make sure there is at least someone at the booth at all times!

Hi sailors!

I have a few announcements to make.

1) Updates for our upcoming cca fiesta. The banner is done and the video is left to combine into a slideshow.

2) For the 1st week wednesday training, there is no physical training BUT everyone is required to help out in decorating the sailing board. Being a part of the sailing team, i believe your help is very important. It is greatly appreciated. The more the number of people helping out, the faster it will be done!
Meet at the sports complex our sailing notice board area at 3pm. Those who end class early can meet up to have lunch together. Remember to bring along some art-an-craft materials such as scissors, pen-knife, glue, markers, colour papers and decorative materials too!

3) For those who are free on this Sunday (19th April) from 3pm-6pm, please meet in school to help out in setting up the booth. Even though we have a small area, we still need manpower (:

Sorry for late update.
The steamboat @ Xin jian's will be cancelled due to many of the sailors being unable to make it as they are overseas and have attachment.

Money Matters

i have to urge ALL of you to SMS/CALL/Tell face to face to Yong Kian that you have deposited money into HIS bank account. Please keep receipt of the money transfer so that there is evidence that you have transferred the money. We are not responsible if the money gets transferred to the wrong bank account, in which case you will have to pay again.

Secondly, due to the new system at SDAR, for those who do not pay the fees by this sat will NOT be able to receive their claims which means you will have to fork out that $66 yourself and no reimbursement will be given to you. As there is a time limit given to us to make the claims on trainings. I urge you all to pay yong kian on time by this saturday. Any payment after saturday will be considered late and no claims will be given. Thanks
